I normally don’t read war stories, I loved this book. Especially that is spoke of southern France my favorite place I have traveled to so many times. Very believable story, has all the ingredients of kindness and insight of personal of feelings. Can’t wait for Bill to write another Bob Dale book.
Bill Deiz is a West Coast broadcast journalist whose father and uncle were both Tuskegee Airmen during WWII. From their recollections and his own extensive research, he tells an exciting, touching, and deeply inspiring story that I'd love to see on the big screen.
Bob and Giselle’s relationship was amazing! Even though the novel doesn’t overdo it, or focus too much on them, their chemistry makes all the difference
This book could have taken the easy way out and chosen to ignore the racism faced by colored persons at the time- but it didn’t. Brave and tremendous.”
As an aspiring writer, this book really inspired me. The period drama of the book really meshes well with the overall tone and action. Definitely recommend to everyone interested in history.
In times of rising hate, I really feel that books like this are important to show that what really matters is whether or not you’re a good person.

The end really touched me. The book really made me realize how many colored people simply never received the respect due to them. Salute to all of them, they were heroes.
I love how he captured the feeling of being in that period, I guess? It really felt like I was in the scene sometimes, which made some of the scenes hit much harder. Loved it.

I’ve never actually read a book set during this part of history before (I know, sue me!) but this was really interesting and well written. This story really fascinated me about this part of history.
I thought it was really clever how the book’s pace alternated between rapid bursts of action, and then an almost documentary-like, slow pace to make you understand context. Smart!
